Bulbs are consumable items, like batteries or cleaning products. Replacing them is therefore the responsibility of the occupant. However, our team can help if you are unsure about the type or if it is a specific model.
My light fixture is not working: what should I do?
If a light fixture is not working, it is important to identify the source of the problem before taking any action. Please follow these steps:
Check the power outlet
Plug another device (charger, lamp, etc.) into the same outlet.
If the device works: the outlet is not the issue.
If the device does not work: the problem may be related to the electrical supply.
Check the bulb
You have two options:
Test the bulb in another working light fixture.
Install a different bulb in the problematic fixture.
➡️ If the bulb does not work elsewhere, it is faulty and needs to be replaced.
➡️ If another bulb works in the fixture, the issue was with the bulb.
Check the light fixture
If the outlet works and the bulb is not the issue, the problem likely comes from the fixture itself (loose connection, faulty socket, etc.).
In this case, please contact our technical team via the “Report an issue” form.
# Changing a bulb
Before replacing a bulb, you need to identify its type. This is usually shown on the used bulb.
In Citydays accommodations, the most common types are:
- GU10: used for recessed spotlights
- E14: used for bedside and desk lamps
- E27: used for ceiling lights, floor lamps and wall lights
We recommend using LED bulbs, which last longer and use less energy.
##### Replacing a screw bulb (E27 / E14)
Switch off the light or cut the power if needed.
Wait for the bulb to cool down.
Unscrew the bulb by holding the base, ideally with a dry cloth.
Screw in the new bulb without forcing.
##### Replacing a bayonet bulb
Make sure the power is off.
Push the bulb slightly towards the holder.
Turn it to release the metal pins.
Insert the new bulb by doing the reverse.
