My bulb has gone / How to change a bulb

Bulbs are consumable items, like batteries or cleaning products. Replacing them is therefore the responsibility of the occupant. However, our team can help if you are unsure about the type or if it is a specific model.

Changing a bulb

Before replacing a bulb, you need to identify its type. This is usually shown on the used bulb.

In Citydays accommodations, the most common types are:

  • GU10: used for recessed spotlights
  • E14: used for bedside and desk lamps
  • E27: used for ceiling lights, floor lamps and wall lights

We recommend using LED bulbs, which last longer and use less energy.

Replacing a screw bulb (E27 / E14)
  1. Switch off the light or cut the power if needed.
  2. Wait for the bulb to cool down.
  3. Unscrew the bulb by holding the base, ideally with a dry cloth.
  4. Screw in the new bulb without forcing. ##### Replacing a bayonet bulb
  5. Make sure the power is off.
  6. Push the bulb slightly towards the holder.
  7. Turn it to release the metal pins.
  8. Insert the new bulb by doing the reverse. ## Need help?
