Internet is slow? What is a powerline adapter?

In some rooms of the apartment, the internet connection may be slow or unstable. To improve the signal, you can use a powerline adapter (CPL), which carries the internet signal over the apartment’s electrical wiring. A powerline adapter extends Wi-Fi coverage to rooms far from the router and improves connection quality for your computers, consoles or other devices.

Steps to follow if internet is slow

Check the internet router

  • Make sure the router is properly plugged in and powered.
  • Check that the router lights are not red.
  • Restart the router if needed and wait a few minutes for the connection to stabilise.

Test internet speed

  • Go to speedtest.net and run a speed test in the room where the connection is slow.
  • If you can, also run a test near the router to compare results.
  • Send a screenshot to our technical team for analysis.

Using a powerline adapter (if the apartment does not have one)

  • Citydays can provide a powerline adapter to improve coverage in distant rooms.
  • The powerline adapter plugs into a wall socket and connects to your router by Ethernet cable. A second adapter plugs in where the connection is weak.
  • Once installed, the powerline adapter creates a stable network for your devices.

If the problem persists

Even after these steps:

  • Check if an error code appears on the router or powerline adapter, and take a photo.
  • Film the situation if possible to show us the problem.

Then contact our team via the Citydays support form. We can arrange for a powerline adapter or report the fault to our internet provider to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
